Notes and Reports

Suggested and adopted modifications to the Stratigraphic Code are announced to the profession by serial Notes and Reports published in the official publication venue of the Commission. Currently, Stratigraphy is the publication venue. Between 1947 and 2005 the Bulletin of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) was the venue for publications of the Commission.

Amendments to the Code are first proposed for a one-year period for public comment as Notes. After the amendments and revisions are accepted by the Commission, they are published as Reports and included in future editions of the Code.

The Records of the Commission, such as abridged meeting minutes, are published as Notes. The Articles of Organization and Procedure (Bylaws) are published as Reports.
